Description
Dara Shukoh (1615-1659) was a prominent Mughal prince and thinker whose intellectual legacy is marked by his efforts to bridge the gap between Hinduism and Islam. Influenced by Sufi mystics and Hindu philosophers, he sought to highlight the commonalities in spiritual beliefs, particularly the concept of monotheism. His notable works, including the Persian translations of the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita, aimed to provide insights into the essence of divine unity found in both religions. However, his ideas led to backlash from orthodox Islamic scholars, ultimately resulting in his execution.
