Here’s the latest release of our brand new version II carbon mirror covers for the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé, including GT43, GT50, GT53, and GT63. Other than the mounting clips, it’s made of 100% carbon fiber, lighter weight, and high tensile strength than our ABS plastic overlay version. These version II dry carbon mirror covers weigh only 121 grams, VS the version I ABS plastic overlay at 239 grams on each side; that’s almost half the weight shaved!
Dry carbon fiber’s name comes from its manufacturing process. Dry carbon fiber is formed by using a “pre-preg” or impregnated piece of carbon materials. This piece of carbon is first placed into a mold and then into a sealed vacuum (autoclave) to cure properly. This method creates the least amount of waste and forms a lighter version of carbon than the “wet” method. The autoclave vacuuming process of making dry carbon means fewer pinholes and virtually no air pockets in the carbon. Dry carbon is the highest-quality version of carbon fiber products that are produced.
